Anytime Fitness Higashi-Koganei Review|A Hidden Gem Under the Tracks

店舗レビュー

Twenty seconds on foot from the north exit of Higashi-Koganei Station on the JR Chuo Line.

The gym sits beneath the elevated tracks — a detail that might suggest a cramped space. It does not.

Inside, the floor opens up into a spacious single-level layout. Five Smith machines and power racks, five adjustable benches, a water server, and a body composition scale. The facility was still new at the time of the visit, with flowers decorating the entrance. In terms of equipment, it stands alongside the Shakujii Koen location — one of the strongest on the Seibu line.

A gym that defies expectations from the moment you walk in.

Access

Twenty seconds from Higashi-Koganei Station’s North Exit on the JR Chuo Line. The gym sits under the elevated tracks — a standalone single-floor space that opens up far beyond what the exterior suggests. A 7-Eleven is right next door, and with a water server already inside, hydration is never a concern. Access-wise, this is among the best on the pilgrimage.

Facilities & Atmosphere

Single-floor layout under the elevated tracks, and surprisingly spacious. Smith/power rack stations: 5. Adjustable benches: 5. The machine brand is MATRIX — a less common choice that gives the floor a distinctive feel compared to the Life Fitness-heavy lineup at most locations.

The gym was relatively new at the time of the visit — flowers were still on display near the entrance. The interior is clean and well-maintained, with a layout that distributes equipment generously across the floor.

There are people here, but the space absorbs them well. The free weights area flows naturally, and the overall atmosphere is energized without feeling crowded.

How Busy Does It Get?

Moderately busy, but the generous floor space means it rarely feels that way. Equipment was available without extended waiting. For a station-front Chuo Line gym, this level of comfort is notable.

The Surrounding Area

Higashi-Koganei has the same quiet, residential character as neighboring Musashi-Koganei — unhurried, well-kept, and easy to live in. On the day of the visit, a walk along the Senkawa River from end to end was the perfect post-workout wind-down. The river path is calm and well-maintained, and the surrounding streets feel genuinely settled.

Overall

Twenty seconds from the station. Five racks. Five benches. Water server. 7-Eleven next door. New interior.

This gym matches Shakujii Koen in terms of equipment depth, and it does so while sitting directly under a train station on the Chuo Line. That combination — accessibility and quality — is harder to find than it sounds.

For anyone living along the Chuo Line or considering a move to the area, this gym deserves serious attention.

The pilgrimage continues.
