Three minutes from Musashi-Sakai Station on the JR Chuo Line.
The gym was closed for renovations until October 2025. The revisit in January 2026 found it in noticeably good condition.
A single open floor with a dividing wall running through the middle — a structural quirk that affects the traffic flow more than expected. Three adjustable benches, a water server running cold, an InBody scale, and a drugstore on the ground floor for post-workout convenience. The gym was not crowded during the revisit, allowing a comfortable pace throughout. The floor space is in line with other Chuo Line locations — practical rather than spacious, but functional for regular use. A walk toward Mitaka after training makes for a pleasant end to the visit.
A reliable neighborhood gym, freshened up and worth returning to.

Access
A 3-minute walk from Musashi-Sakai Station on the JR Chuo Line. The gym occupies the 2nd floor of a building with a drugstore on the ground floor — convenient for post-workout errands. Musashi-Sakai sits between Kichijoji and Mitaka on the Chuo Line, sharing the corridor but carrying a slightly quieter, more residential character than its better-known neighbors.
Note: the gym was closed for renovation until October 2025. This visit took place after the reopening. The interior is clean and freshly updated.
Facilities & Atmosphere
Single-floor layout. Smith/power rack stations: 4. Adjustable benches: 3. The floor is neither cramped nor spacious — it occupies a middle ground that works well enough for most training sessions.
The InBody body composition scale is a standout addition — more precise than standard scales, and useful for tracking progress over time. The water server is cold and functional. The overall post-renovation feel is clean and well-maintained.
One layout note: a wall runs through the middle of the floor, which creates some awkwardness in the traffic flow. Getting to the dumbbells requires a slight detour. It’s not a major issue given the low crowd levels, but it’s a design choice that could have been handled better.
No stretch mat in the stretching area.
How Busy Does It Get?
Not particularly crowded. For a Chuo Line gym this close to a major station, that’s a meaningful advantage. Benches were available without waiting. The low traffic levels largely offset the floor layout issues.
The Surrounding Area
Musashi-Sakai is quieter than Kichijoji or Mitaka, but that’s part of its appeal. The streets are calm, and a walk toward Mitaka makes for a pleasant post-workout route. The drugstore on the ground floor handles everyday needs without requiring a detour.
Overall
Renovated interior. InBody scale. Water server. Low crowds. ¥7,678 per month.
The floor layout has a minor awkwardness, but nothing that significantly disrupts a training session. For the price point, this gym delivers reliable value on the Chuo Line.
The pilgrimage continues.
