Anytime Fitness Kawagoe Nakadai Review｜Surprising Space in a Town with Nothing Around

Twenty minutes on foot from Kawagoe Station.

The distance is substantial. That is worth stating plainly.

What waits at the end of that walk, however, is a gym that justifies the effort. A single open floor comparable in size to the Shinsayama location, with five Smith machines and power racks, four adjustable benches, and a clear division between beginner-friendly machines at the front and free weights toward the back. The stretching area has mats laid out, and forty parking spaces on-site make this an easy choice for those arriving by car. The gym was uncrowded during the visit — a direct benefit of the distance from the station.

Far from the station, but close to what a serious training environment should feel like.

Access

The gym sits about a twenty-minute walk from Kawagoe Station, which is a considerable distance, and using a bus is a reasonable alternative. The route leaves behind the bustle near the station and gradually turns quiet, eventually reaching an area with very little around it. The gym occupies a standalone building that stands somewhat isolated. With parking for forty vehicles, arriving by car appears to be the option most members choose.

Facilities & Atmosphere

The interior is immediately spacious, laid out as a single-floor standalone location comparable in size to the Shinsayama branch. The free weight area sits toward the back, with plate-loaded machines clustered nearby, while weight-stack machines aimed at beginners line the front section. The cable machines have generous room around them, and the stretching area comes fitted with mats, leaving space for an unhurried cool-down.

The combination of Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment meets the needs of serious lifters as well. A body composition analyzer and personal training are both available, and the depth of equipment compensates considerably for the distance from the station.

How Busy Does It Get?

The single-floor layout keeps sightlines open, so even with other members present the space never feels cramped. With a solid equipment count, waiting is rarely necessary, and the gym maintains the relaxed pace typical of a suburban location.

The Surrounding Area

Frankly, there is little nearby. Restaurants and convenience stores are not immediately visible, and the surroundings are a quiet mix of housing and open, field-like lots. This is a place suited to coming in, training, and heading home. The location sits well away from Kawagoe’s tourist district, including the Kurazukuri warehouse streets, so it is not a gym to drop into while sightseeing.

Overall

A twenty-minute walk from the station, with nothing much around, sets a genuinely high bar. Yet stepping inside makes the case on its own. The space rivals the Shinsayama branch, with dedicated room for free weights, beginner machines, and cable equipment alike, and even the stretching area is properly matted. It prompts the question of why a town with so little around houses a gym this large. The inconvenient access is unquestionably a drawback, but for anyone able to arrive by car, this is a genuinely viable option.
