Anytime Fitness Shakujii-Koen Review|Spacious for a Station-Front Gym, a Seibu Line Standout

店舗レビュー

Three minutes on foot from Shakujii-Koen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.

Station proximity and equipment quality rarely go together at this level. This location is an exception.

A Hammer Strength certified gym with four adjustable benches, a rich lineup of plate-loaded and cable machines, and shower and restroom facilities well above average for this area. The benches can fill up during peak hours, but the depth of the machine selection means a full workout is always possible. After training, Shakujii Park is a short walk away — one of the more pleasant post-gym routes on this line.

A gym that punches above its weight for its location.

Access

A three-minute walk from Shakujii-Koen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. For a station-front gym, the floor space here is unusually generous, as the Seibu Line corridor tends to breathe more easily than the Chuo Line, and this location reflects that. After training, Shakujii Park is within walking distance, making for one of the better post-workout destinations on the entire pilgrimage.

Facilities & Atmosphere

The gym is Hammer Strength certified, with a machine lineup that covers the full range of training needs. The variety is the standout feature here. Even when the benches are occupied, there are enough plate-loaded and cable machines to keep a serious session moving without compromise.

Four benches are available, though they tend to fill up during busy periods. With a Hammer Strength certified floor, however, bench dependency matters less than at most gyms, as the machine alternatives are genuinely good. Shower and toilet facilities are notably well-provisioned, with more stalls than one would typically expect, which makes a real difference during peak hours.

How Busy Does It Get?

The benches get busy, which is the honest answer. But the overall floor is spacious, and the depth of the machine lineup means it is easy to work around. The gym feels active rather than cramped. There are people here, but the space absorbs them.

The Surrounding Area

Shakujii-Koen is one of the more genuinely livable neighborhoods in west Tokyo. The park itself is large, well maintained, and excellent for a post-workout walk at any hour. The surrounding streets are quiet and family-friendly, with the settled character of a neighborhood that people tend to stay in long-term. For anyone weighing up areas along the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, this one deserves serious consideration.

Overall

Hammer Strength certified, three minutes from the station, with excellent facilities and Shakujii Park on the way home. The monthly fee of ¥8,580 sits slightly above average for this pilgrimage, but the equipment quality and the park access justify it. The absence of a water dispenser is the one real gap, which is notable for a gym at this level. Still, this is a place worth a special trip, not just for those nearby but for anyone serious about training, in a neighborhood worth living in.

The pilgrimage continues.
