Anytime Fitness Yokosuka Shioiri Review — Step Out of the Station, Into a Sea of Equipment

Mid-July, a Sunday afternoon under a sharp sun. The town of Shioiri still carries a trace of America. Sukajan jacket shops and burger joints line nearby Dobuita Street, and the whole neighborhood shares that air.

Out of the ticket gate at Shioiri Station, and I was there within a few steps. Practically connected to the station.

Second floor of a commercial building. Past the front desk, selectorized machines line the right side. Straight ahead, lockers and showers, plenty of them. Plate-loaded machines sit up front on the left, free weights further back. Cardio machines line the window side, frosted glass in front of the treadmills so runners don’t lock eyes with commuters outside. A small, considerate touch.

One floor, square layout, spacious. And the equipment lineup is on another level entirely.

7 power racks, 10 adjustable benches. A staggering number. The benches sit lined up like they’re welcoming every trainee who walks in — one more, and you could field a soccer team.

Atmosphere & Facilities

Looking back over the room from the free weight area, it feels like a curated showroom of training equipment. Several machines here I’d never seen before.

If Shimoigusa and Seibuyagisawa are amusement parks, Shioiri is an aquarium. No surprise it’s a Hammer Strength Platinum certified location — the lineup speaks for itself.

Unlike Chigasaki, this location sits inside a commercial building, so there’s no scent of the sea here. Less a spacious suburban gym, more an urban, polished space.

How Crowded

I visited on a Sunday afternoon. People were around, but with this much equipment, there was no waiting. Plenty of serious lifters, but the space is generous enough that beginners won’t feel out of place either.

Being more of an urban area, it’s about a 30-minute walk to the waterfront from here. Still worth the walk once you’re out there.

Overall

Direct from the station, an impressive equipment lineup, and a polished feel that comes from sitting inside a commercial building. This is a gym worth experiencing for the neighborhood as much as for the training itself. The Hammer Strength Platinum certification isn’t just for show.
