Access
A 10-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station’s South Exit, located in the basement of the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. The walk takes you through the high-rise district of Nishi-Shinjuku — very much a central Tokyo experience. While it’s not the closest gym to the station, Shinjuku’s unmatched transport links make it easy to reach from anywhere in the city.
Facilities & Atmosphere
Despite being located in a hotel basement, the floor space is generous. With 5 benches and 4 Smith/power rack stations, there’s enough equipment to keep things moving even during busy periods.
One standout detail: the water server dispenses ice-cold water — noticeably colder than most gyms. A small thing, but memorable.
The gym attracts a mix of group visitors and serious lifters, giving it an energy that’s different from quieter suburban locations. There’s a sense of community here that you don’t often find in smaller gyms.
How Busy Does It Get?
It gets busy. Group use is common and noticeable. That said, with 5 benches available, there’s rarely a full bottleneck. For a central Tokyo gym, the crowd levels are manageable.
The Surrounding Area
After your workout, you’re steps away from everything Shinjuku has to offer — dining, shopping, nightlife, and transport in every direction. The contrast with quieter suburban gyms on this pilgrimage couldn’t be more stark.
Overall
The monthly fee of ¥9,350 is the highest among gyms reviewed on this blog. But for that price, you get a prime Shinjuku location, solid equipment, and an atmosphere that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.
If you’re visiting Tokyo and want a serious workout in a central location, this gym is worth considering.
The pilgrimage continues.
