The climb out of Exit 2 at Shinjuku-gyoemmae Station leads north, away from the main road. A walk of 9 minutes ends at a 2-story building, with the gym occupying the ground floor.
The first impression is space. The second is people. Weight-stack machines line the front of the floor, and behind them stands a long row of plate-loaded machines.
For anyone who loves strength training, the view alone is worth the walk.

Access
The gym is a 9-minute walk from Exit 2 of Shinjuku-gyoemmae Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. Akebonobashi Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line is 11 minutes away, and Shinjuku-sanchome Station is 12 minutes away.
Every route involves a walk of around 10 minutes, so this is not a station-front gym. The noise of central Shinjuku fades gradually along the way.
Atmosphere and Equipment
The gym is a single square floor. It opened in March 2025, and both the flooring and the machines still look new.
Weight-stack machines occupy the front of the floor, and the number of plate-loaded machines grows toward the back. The rows of black steel make a striking impression.
The trade-off is limited open space. The machines are placed close together, and the floor area has clearly been devoted to equipment rather than room to move.
The free weight area is also well equipped, with 4 adjustable benches and 6 Smith machines and power racks.
A purple-floored functional area holds a punching bag, stability balls, mats and foam rollers. On the wall hangs the emblem of a HAMMER STRENGTH TRAINING CENTER, which says a great deal about the priorities of this gym before a single word is read.
The stretching area sits at the back and is somewhat small for the overall size of the gym. Members lay out their own mats.
The lockers, toilets and showers are located at the very back of the floor. First-time visitors may need a moment to find them, as nothing is near the entrance.
Inside the lockers are power outlets, so phones and earphones can charge during a workout. It is a thoughtful detail rarely seen at other locations.
An InBody body composition analyzer is also available. Measurement is free, and a printed result costs ¥200 including tax.
The vending machine offers protein drinks with 24 g of protein alongside water and tea. Training, refueling and heading home can all happen without leaving the building.
Crowd Levels
The gym was busy on a Sunday shortly before noon. The share of serious lifters is high, and the members seemed noticeably more muscular than at many other locations. A number of international members were also present, a mix typical of Shinjuku.
Surroundings
Walking north from Shinjuku-gyoemmae, the sound of the city slowly changes. The traffic of the main roads gives way to a quieter area where homes and offices sit side by side.
Anytime Fitness Shinjuku-Gyoenmae, which shares the same nearest station, is within walking distance, making it easy to visit both gyms in one outing.
Overall Impressions
The walk from the station is slightly longer than usual, but a serious training atmosphere waits on the other side of the door.
The range of plate-loaded machines stands out even among the gyms of the Shinjuku area. For members focused on strength training, the 9-minute walk is a small price to pay.
Where Shinjuku-Gyoenmae offers open space and calm, Shinjuku-Tomihisacho fills that space with machines. It is no surprise that serious lifters gather here.
