Anytime Fitness Tachikawa Minami ANNEX Review|A Place That Doesn’t Feel Built for Serious Training

店舗レビュー

Five minutes on foot from Tachikawa and Tachikawa-Minami stations.

The gym runs across two floors of a commercial building. The floor space on both levels is among the tightest encountered on this pilgrimage.

Three Smith machines, three adjustable benches, no water server, and restroom and shower facilities that fall short of the standard expected at this price point. The equipment is arranged without much consideration for traffic flow, making movement around the floor more effortful than necessary. No abdominal bench, and the stretching area amounts to a single mat-sized space. Full training sessions are difficult to complete here without compromise. The walk through Tachikawa after training is the strongest argument for the visit.

A gym where the surrounding city does more work than the facility itself.

Facilities

Private showers, a private changing room, and Wi-Fi are all available. Bicycle parking, an AED, contracted lockers with availability, and free access for high school students round out the offering.

There’s no water server, no body composition scale, no personal trainer, and no car parking. There’s no ab bench either, and the stretching area amounts to little more than a single tatami mat’s worth of space. The number of showers and toilets also fell short of what felt sufficient.

Access

A 5-minute walk from Tachikawa or Tachikawa-Minami Station, served by the JR Chuo, Ome, and Nanbu lines as well as the Tama Monorail.

Atmosphere and Equipment

Spread across the first and second floors of its building, the gym still felt extremely cramped. Three adjustable benches and three Smith machines are on hand, but the equipment came across as simply lined up rather than thoughtfully arranged, and the awkward flow between stations was noticeable.

Not being in peak condition on the day of the visit actually worked in this gym’s favor, but realistically, training seriously here seems difficult. There’s no ab bench, and the stretching area is roughly the size of a single tatami mat.

Crowding

With such a tight footprint, more visitors quickly translate into a cramped, awkward flow around the gym.

Surrounding Area

The area around Tachikawa Station is full of shops and restaurants, and being able to walk through the city afterward is a genuine plus.

Overall Review

An extremely cramped interior, awkward equipment flow, no ab bench, and a tatami-mat-sized stretching area add up to real shortcomings on the facilities and space front. For anyone hoping to train seriously, this is a hard one to recommend.

That said, Tachikawa’s convenience as a town remains intact, and the chance to walk through the city afterward is a saving grace. The gym itself scores low, but the location’s appeal is undeniable.

The pilgrimage continues.
