Anytime Fitness Fussa Review｜Spacious, Quiet, and Exceptional Value on the Ome Line

Five minutes on foot from Fussa Station on the JR Ome Line.

Fussa is best known for its proximity to a U.S. military base, giving it a distinctly different atmosphere from other Tokyo suburbs. Finding a gym of this quality here was unexpected.

The layout is a single open floor with generous space throughout. Four Smith machines and power racks, three benches, a water server, MAG grip attachments, and on-site parking — all at a monthly fee of ¥7,678. The gym was quiet during the visit, with no waiting at any point.

The value here is difficult to match anywhere along this line.

Access

A 5-minute walk from Fussa Station on the JR Ome Line. A standalone single-floor gym with parking available on-site. The location works well by both train and car. Multiple stations are accessible along the return route, making it easy to break the journey and explore the surrounding area on foot.

The machine brand lineup is notably varied — PRECOR, Wattbike, Concept2, and TORQUE together cover a wider range of training modalities than most gyms offer. Wattbike for cycling intervals, Concept2 for rowing, TORQUE for functional training, PRECOR for the standard strength and cardio lineup. The variety here opens up training options that go well beyond the typical Anytime Fitness setup.

MAG grip attachments are available for cable work. One practical note: the toilet is a single unit, which could be a bottleneck at peak times — though given the low crowd levels, it rarely is in practice.

How Busy Does It Get?

Quiet. Genuinely quiet. The suburban Ome Line location keeps traffic low, and the result is a gym where you can train without interruption, without watching the clock, and without adjusting your session around other people’s schedules.

The Surrounding Area

Fussa has a character unlike most Tokyo suburbs. The US military base presence gives the city a distinct atmosphere — English signage, international restaurants, a different energy on the streets. It’s a part of Tokyo that doesn’t feel entirely like Tokyo, and that’s part of its appeal.

The walk back toward the station, or further along the line, is easy and pleasant. Multiple stations along the return route mean the post-workout journey can become part of the day rather than just a commute.

After training, instead of heading straight to the station, I walked back along the Tamagawa Josui canal. The tree-lined path offered a quiet break from the noise of the city, a few minutes of green before rejoining the everyday.

Overall

Spacious floor. Varied machine lineup. Water server. MAG grip. Parking. ¥7,678 per month.

At that price point, with that equipment variety, in that level of quiet — this gym represents among the best value on the entire pilgrimage. Fussa is not a neighborhood everyone will make the trip for. But for those who do, or those already in the area, this gym is the kind of place that earns its home base status.
