Anytime Fitness Musashi-Seki Review | Equipment and Crowds, 1 Minute from the Station

店舗レビュー

Musashi-Seki Station sits on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, about 20 minutes from Takadanobaba. The gym is only 1 minute from the station, but there is one rule to remember: take the South Exit. If you leave through the North Exit, the railway tracks will block your way and force a long detour.

From the South Exit, walk straight into the shopping street. The ground floor of the building is a drugstore called Cocokara Fine Sekimachi. The gym occupies the entire 2nd floor above it. The sign is visible, but the building blends so naturally into the shopping street that it is easy to walk past without noticing.

Facilities

The gym offers private showers, private changing rooms, personal trainers, an AED, rental lockers with availability, and free membership for high school students. There is no water server, no Wi-Fi, no body composition scale, and no bicycle or car parking.

The cardio and stretching areas are covered with mats. It is a small touch, but a considerate one for a gym of this size.

Access

The gym is a 1-minute walk from the South Exit of Musashi-Seki Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. Step out of the ticket gates and head into the shopping street; the building is almost immediately on your path.

The one thing to be careful about is the exit. Leaving through the North Exit puts the railway tracks between you and the gym, turning a 1-minute walk into a frustrating detour. Use the South Exit, find the red logo of the Cocokara Fine drugstore, and look up. That is the gym.

Atmosphere and Equipment

The gym occupies a single floor on the 2nd level, split into left and right zones from the entrance.

To the left are the cardio and stretching areas, both covered with mats. The toilet and shower spaces are compact but sufficient. There is no water server, so bring your own bottle.

To the right are the weight-stack machines and the free weight area, equipped with 1 adjustable bench and 2 Smith machine and power rack units. The machines are PRECOR, and the lineup is limited.

And the free weight area is, above all, small.

Crowding

In this gym, the small floor space and the crowding are the same problem.

During my visit, the free weight area was occupied the entire time. Someone was always there. You end up training while constantly checking where other people are and waiting for your turn.

Because the machine lineup is limited, there is no fallback of switching to another exercise when your spot is taken. You either wait or give up. It can be a somewhat stressful environment.

Surrounding Area

Musashi-Seki Station turned out to be livelier than expected, with a station-building structure and a shopping street lined with everyday shops.

Having a drugstore on the ground floor is convenient: protein, drinks, and daily supplies are all one floor away. The area is not flashy, but it is a town that fits comfortably into daily life.

Overall Impression

To be honest, this gym is not spacious. Located inside a shopping street, it is noticeably smaller than other gyms along the Seibu lines. The free weight area stayed full throughout my visit, the machine lineup is limited, and there are few alternatives when equipment is taken. It reminded me of the Musashi-Koyama branch, another shopping-street gym, though this one is slightly larger. I finished my session in about 30 minutes.

Still, the 1-minute access from the station is a genuine strength. If you live nearby and want to drop in whenever you have time, that distance matters. This is not a gym worth a special trip; it is a station-front gym for the people who live around it.

The pilgrimage continues.
