Anytime Fitness Tokorozawa Propedori Review|A Building That Looks Tight, but Opens Up on the Third Floor

店舗レビュー

Five minutes on foot from Tokorozawa Station, served by both the Seibu Ikebukuro and Seibu Shinjuku lines.

The gym occupies the third floor of a stylish commercial building, reached by escalator — a slightly unexpected setting for a suburban Anytime Fitness.

From the outside, the building looks compact. Inside, the floor opens up more than anticipated. Two Smith machines, three adjustable benches, and a layout that handles moderate foot traffic reasonably well. The visit coincided with a holiday period, so the gym was busier than usual. Wait times are possible during peak hours. Tokorozawa itself has a surprisingly urban energy for a city this far from central Tokyo.

The gap between first impressions and reality is part of what makes this pilgrimage worthwhile.

Facilities

A water server, private showers, a private changing room, and Wi-Fi are all available. An AED, contracted lockers, and free access for high school students round out the offering.

There’s no body composition scale and no personal trainer. There’s also no bicycle or car parking.

Access

Just a 1-minute walk from Tokorozawa Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro and Seibu Shinjuku lines. The gym sits on the third floor of a fairly stylish building, with a Lions Academy occupying the ground floor, and is reached by escalator.

Atmosphere and Equipment

From the outside, the building suggested a compact, modest gym, but stepping inside revealed more space than expected, a pleasant surprise. Two Smith machines and three adjustable benches make up the core equipment.

The visit happened to fall during Japan’s Golden Week holiday, so there was a fair number of people around, and depending on the time, some waiting was unavoidable.

Crowding

Being a holiday period, the gym saw a reasonable number of visitors, with some waiting for equipment depending on the time of day.

Surrounding Area

The area around Tokorozawa Station turned out to be busier and more urban than expected. That liveliness is appealing, but it also made the area feel a bit less settled as a place to actually live.

Overall Review

A gym whose interior space exceeds what the building’s exterior suggests, this one comes with a genuine gap between expectation and reality. The lack of a body composition scale and personal trainer, plus the Golden Week crowding, make “so-so” a fair description of the facilities and overall experience.

Still, the escalator ride up to a stylish third-floor space leaves an impression, and combined with the energy of Tokorozawa itself, this is a gym worth visiting at least once.

The pilgrimage continues.
