Anytime Fitness Kunitachi Review|A 3-Story Gym Reached Only by Elevator

It had been a while since stepping off at Kunitachi Station. The cluttered feel the area once had is largely gone. A short walk from the ticket gates leads to a 3-story building. Tall structures are scarce in this part of town, so the gym stands quietly among the low rooflines. A runner’s silhouette is visible through the glass, and a handful of bicycles line up beneath the outdoor staircase.

Interior and Facilities

The first floor is done in purple and black. It holds the cardio and stretching areas, with 2 rowing machines and 1 treadmill. 3 mats are laid out. A small bar-style desk sits against the wall, unoccupied.

Beyond it is an unexpected coworking corner. A black desk holds a tangle of charging cables, though no one is using it. Possibly meant for students.

Unoccupied, but charging cables were left ready.

A handwritten message board sits on the desk: “Thank you for your daily training,” “Believe that the more you train, the stronger you become.” Written in staff handwriting with colored pens and illustrations. A gym with something like this is not a bad sign.

The first floor is nearly empty. That appears to be its role. No free water server here.

Serious training happens upstairs, and a caveat applies: there are no stairs. Movement between floors depends on a single elevator, which is mildly inconvenient — during busy periods, a short wait may be unavoidable. The floor guide lists 3 layers: Stretch Area / Member Lobby on 1F, Cardio / Strength Area on 2F, and Free Weight Area on 3F. Restrooms are located only on the 1st and 3rd floors.

The 2nd floor holds the cardio area and weight-stack machines. A standard lineup, arranged with enough space that the room does not feel crowded.

The 3rd floor is the cardio / strength area. Plate-loaded leg press and leg curl machines sit alongside cable stations. Large windows open onto the surrounding neighborhood — a quiet, residential view that suits Kunitachi.

Beyond it is the free weight zone. 3 power racks line up against mirrored walls, with 2 adjustable benches and a full dumbbell rack. No one else was there. The whole floor felt reserved for one. Given the student population nearby, some crowding seemed likely, but many students may have training facilities of their own on campus.

Crowd Levels

Both the 1st and 3rd floors were nearly empty, offering a private-gym feel. The 2nd floor had a modest number of people, though nothing close to crowded.

Neighborhood

The shift from city to countryside was hard to miss. Near the station stands the old Kunitachi station building, its red triangular roof still standing as a local landmark today.

Overall

Space, equipment, both left little to complain about. A full set of plate-loaded machines and free weights, available with virtually no one else around. The one drawback is the lack of stairs, which puts every floor transition at the mercy of a single elevator. For anyone wanting to work through free weights without feeling watched, this location fits well.

A Side Note: Testing a Chair on the Way Home

The walk home stretched all the way to Tachikawa. Recent attention to posture led to a stop at LaLaport, where a Style chair caught the eye. Items like this are best tried in person. The Premium model offered a noticeable sense of pelvic support — not bad at all. With plenty of desk work happening at home, it seemed worth the investment.
